About us and ownership
MIAM UK is part of the Family Legal Ltd network of companies. We provide clear information about MIAMs and an easy way to book one. The mediation itself is carried out by our sister company, Mediate UK, and legal services by Family Law Service and our solicitor partners.
Family Legal Ltd is a real, registered company in England and Wales, with a Legal Aid Agency contract and named people behind it. Many MIAM websites do not say who owns them. We think you should be able to check, so here it is.

The people behind MIAM UK
Real services have real people who are accountable for them. Ours include:
Belinda Atkins
Belinda is the named managing director on our Legal Aid Agency contract, with overall responsibility for how the service is run.
Jess Knauf
Jess is responsible for our content and the experience clients have from first enquiry onwards, and reviews the guidance across this site.
Our MIAMs are conducted by named, FMC-accredited family mediators, each verifiable on the public register. You can meet them on our mediators page.
Why we are open about who we are
When you are choosing who to trust with something as personal as a separation, you should be able to see who you are dealing with. A growing number of MIAM and family law websites do not name their owner, their company, or the people who would conduct your meeting.
We take the opposite view. Every page on this site names its reviewer, every accredited mediator links to the official register, and our company details are at the foot of every page. If you cannot find those things on a website, it can be worth asking why.

Who owns MIAM UK?
MIAM UK is a trading name of Family Legal Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 16431127). It is part of the same group as Mediate UK and Family Law Service.
Who actually carries out the mediation?
Our sister company, Mediate UK. Its FMC-accredited mediators conduct the MIAMs booked through this site and any joint mediation that follows.
Are you a genuine, regulated service?
Yes. Mediation is carried out by FMC-accredited mediators working to the Family Mediation Council’s standards, and we hold a Legal Aid Agency contract. Our company details are published at the foot of every page.
Can you also help with the legal side?
Yes. Family Law Service offers fixed-fee legal help, including consent orders and court applications, and we work with solicitor partners at DFA Law and Family Law Solicitors.
